Believer - American Authors

I really love this song; it makes me smile instantly and you can't help dancing along to it. No matter how badly you dance! Not only that, but the lyrics are inspiring as well. It' a song that makes you wanna go chase your dreams.
I really love American Authors' sound, they are an upcoming band that people should keep an eye on. Thanks to their US tour with OneRepublic and The Script (jealous) they gained fans and are better known, at least that's what I think. People who like that sound experiecienced a newish band sing great music. Plus, their already amazing song writing mojo has to be inspired by the legends they toured with - great songs will be on their way. ;)
I think this song is truly great, a real summer song, but one that I now I'll be listening to FOREVER! American Authors have gained a lifelong fan, now I just need to convince my Mum to buy tour tickets.
If you haven't already go buy the song, or the album. In fact just get both, because this band rocks. And if you live in the UK there is a tour coming up so....

Crazy Stupid Love - Cheryl Cole

This one is a hate. There is to much going on; trumpets, singing... it's enough to give you an instant headache. Cheryl Cole is one of those artists with fans so loyal they buy even the terrible songs, unfortunately this is one of them. When this comes on the radio, the radio goes off.
But hey, this is just my opinion! Maybe you love the song, I could be a freak hater. My advice is don't go near it, though it did top the charts so some one must like it.
Completely random, but I am struggling to think of things to review right now so if you have any ideas let me know!

Love Don't Die - The Fray

I am in love with this song! I really do love it. The Fray are an amazing band, and have such an interesting sound. It's a song that you can't help but sing along to and puts a smile on your face. The song jumps straight in and has your foot tapping along to the beat.It's the type of song that you can't help but sing along to as loud as you possibly can!
As the title suggests the song is about love and really never ending love, it's a lovely idea. And maybe that's what makes the song so perfect. Or that could just be the perfect song with the catchy (and memorable) lyrics!
Interestingly it was written by no other than Ryan Tedder, lead singer of OneRepublic, and he definitely wrote a good one. Demonstrating exactly why Billboard named him the undercover King of Pop.
Honestly, it annoys me this song hasn't done better in the charts, so get out there and buy it! It is worth your time and if you like the single but the album Helios, it does not disappoint.

Kirby's Epic Yarn - Wii

When you first begin playing this game it seems fun and everything's great. It's after a couple of weeks or maybe even hours when it starts to get painful. I play it with my 8 year old sister and it is the most stressful, irritating game in existence. And that is why this game is a hate.
Sure, the story is actually pretty interesting and even some of the worlds are fun. But, eventually it's just repetitive, not to mention WAY to difficult for an 8 year old. Even I can struggle with it sometimes; there's always one star to far or a level that is just a little bit to difficult.
Long story short, you can't enjoy the game because you are to busy being stressed out about it! At least that's what I find... Maybe you feel differently, feel free to leave a comment.

The Originals

The Originals is a spin-off from the hit programme The Vampire Diaries, and I gotta say it is amazing. This is definitely a rate from me. The first series came to a dramatic close and the second series has been confirmed and will begin later this year. The show has an amazing cast who bring the characters to life, and the show itself has a great storyline. Based in New Orleans, it is a darker, more mature version of VD and I think it is more gripping. Instead of being about teenage vampires it is about reclaiming what the Originals believe is theirs and brings to light the constant fight for supernatural power.
If you like supernatural shows you should definitely take the time to watch The Originals, it is unlike the other supernatural programmes on TV and is 100% worth your time.
So invest in the Season One box set before Season Two starts, because you don't wanna miss it!

Wiggle - Jason Derulo ft. Snoop Dogg

This one is a hate. The concept behind the song is just creepy really, focusing on women's buts and trying to get them to wiggle... creepy. I love Jason Derulo, I think he has an amazing voice and is super talented, but this song is just weird. Yes, his other songs are a bit 'adult' themed, but this is one step to far!
But the worst part is the 42 year old man saying in a pretty disturbing voice 'wiggle, wiggle, wiggle'. The same man who recently starred in a kids film, it isn't exactly inspiring. I definitely don't want my sister listening to the song.
Not to mention the irritation it gives you, sure the first few times it's interesting and catchy but eventually when it comes on you are just annoyed. And that is what makes it a mediocre song, a great song can be played over and over. Then add the disturbing message throughout the song; for me it's a no brainer, the song sucks. It has to be a hate.
Hopefully Derulo has something good lined up for the next single, 'cause if it's like Wiggle I'm not sure if I'll continue to listen to his songs.

Superheroes - The Script

Rate! Rate! Rate! The Script have done it again! Superheroes is an amazing song, after hearing it for the first time (ha! See what I did there) I was humming away and singing the chorus. And that is the signature of The Script, a catchy tune, a catchy chorus, but the thing that makes their songs special is the meaning in each song.
Superheroes is about how each person could become a superhero, it's about pushing through life's difficulties and keeping your head up, that makes you a superhero. And that is why The Script's fan's are so in love, because every song helps in certain situations and reminds you that even when you're struggling you are not alone.
The band have said that this song (and album) is for their fans, yet another reason to love them and the song.
So if you haven't already, get online and buy the damn thing! Or pre-order it if you live in the UK. Or just pre-order their new album 'No Sound Without Silence'. I know I have.

The Hunger Games - Movie

Sometimes when I say hate, what I really mean is dislike. But there isn't the same ring... Dislike or Rate. Yeah, so this is one of those.
It's important to say this is the film, because I think the books are really good. And that is where the problem lies, I don't think the film does the book justice. As with many films, it's all about the interpretation of a few people involved in the film making process, but a book gives the reader the freedom to imagine. For me, the films just aren't as good. There isn't the same danger and build-up of tension, you don't get to explore the world the same way; you see it on a screen exactly how the director wants you too, and you only see what they want you to.
That is what makes this a hate, truthfully I think the film is good. The acting is great, the actors and actresses really know their characters. If only it wasn't based on the books, because for me the books are miles ahead of the film.

I Am Pilgrim - Terry Hayes

I'm pleased to say that my first book review is a rate! This book is truly amazing, skilfully combining spy thriller with crime. You are kept guessing till the very last page, and there isn't just one mystery to solve as in most crime books. In this book you have predications for every page, and a lot of the time crazy plot twists prove you wrong!
This book is impossible to put down. Filled with strangely lovable characters and an amazing story. Not to mention the CRAZY writing skills, Terry Hayes is one to watch.
I know I am anxiously awaiting his next book.

Love Runs Out - OneRepublic

Definitely a rate for this song! As a massive OneRepublic fan it's great to see their music change and develop, and Love Runs Out does not disappoint. It has an almost retro sound to it and the more you listen to it the more you fall in love with it. I could definitely listen to it on repeat and can't wait to see the band perform it live in October. The musical genius of Ryan Tedder has struck again, this time creating a song with his band for the band. I'd like to think that the song is talking about their musical career; they should be doing this 'till the love runs out' and as far as I'm aware that is a long time in the future. If their music continues to be as amazing as this track I think the band can only continue to grow and will definitely attract some new fans.
The only drawback; the vocals are quite low at points, how are the dedicated fans supposed to sing along easily! Ah well, the song is worth it and it's nice to just sit and listen... or you can attempt to sing along, whatever floats your boat.
If you haven't bought the song then go do it now! Or buy the album Native, which has recently been rereleased with some added tracks.
